Stores Rentals Services Blog About Work at Alpine

Keep your gear performing.

A well-tuned ski or snowboard makes a real difference on the mountain. Dull edges slip on hardpack, a dry base drags, and a damaged base makes every run harder than it needs to be. Our technicians tune and repair skis and snowboards to manufacturer spec — so you're getting everything your equipment has to offer.

Not sure what your gear needs? Bring it in for a free equipment inspection and we'll tell you exactly what we'd recommend.

Alpine Ski Center technician mounting snowboard bindings

Properly mounted. Properly set.

Binding setup isn't just a convenience — it's a safety issue. Bindings that are improperly mounted or have the wrong DIN setting can fail to release in a fall, or release when they shouldn't. Our technicians mount and set bindings to manufacturer spec every time.

We mount bindings on gear purchased anywhere, not just at Alpine. Rates differ — gear purchased at Alpine is significantly discounted.

Buy at Alpine, save on setup. Equipment purchased at Alpine Ski Center receives significantly discounted mounting and setup rates. A system ski setup is $15 with an Alpine purchase versus $65 elsewhere — the savings often cover the cost of accessories.

The right fit changes everything.

Ski and snowboard boot fit is the single most important factor in comfort and performance on the mountain. A boot that's too loose gives you poor control. A boot that's too tight leaves you in pain by run three. Our staff are trained fitters who take the time to get it right.

Boot fitting is included at no charge with any boot purchase at Alpine. For boots purchased elsewhere, our standalone fitting service is $50 per hour.

We also offer Alpine's Boot Fit Guarantee — if we can't make ski or snowboard boots work for you, we'll replace them.

Service FAQs

Where can I get my bindings mounted near Beech Mountain or Sugar Mountain? +
Our Banner Elk and Beech Mountain locations both offer binding mounting and setup. Banner Elk is minutes from Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain Resort on Tynecastle Highway. Beech Mountain is right at the entrance to Beech Mountain Resort.
How long does a ski or snowboard tune take? +
Turnaround varies by season. During off-peak periods we can often turn tunes around same day or next day. During peak season — holiday weekends especially — we recommend calling ahead and allowing 24 to 48 hours. Drop your gear off and we'll contact you when it's ready.
Can you repair a ski or snowboard base? +
Yes — we handle P-Tex repairs, epoxy welds, base patches, and delamination repairs. Bring your skis or board in and we'll assess the damage. Minor P-Tex repairs start at $15. More significant base work is priced based on the extent of the damage.
Do you mount bindings on skis or a snowboard I bought somewhere else? +
Yes — we mount bindings on any skis or snowboard, not just those purchased at Alpine. Rates are higher for gear not purchased at Alpine: a system ski setup is $65 vs. $15 for Alpine purchases. Bring in your equipment and boots and our technicians will check compatibility, set your DIN, and mount to manufacturer spec.
What does a full tune-up include? +
Our full tune-up covers base grinding, edge sharpening (side and base edge), and hot wax — everything your skis or snowboard needs to perform at their best. It's the service we recommend at least once per season, or after any period of heavy use on hard or icy conditions.
Is boot fitting free? +
Boot fitting is included at no charge when you purchase boots at Alpine Ski Center — and it's covered under our Boot Fit Guarantee. If we can't make your boots work for you, we'll replace them. For boots purchased elsewhere, standalone fitting is $50 per hour.
