Alpine Ski Center is the oldest (since 1976) and largest ski shop in the Banner Elk and Sugar Mountain area. 
We think it's one of the best ski shops in the East in terms of staff expertise, customer service, and product selection,
and we hope you'll visit us whenever you're in this part of the country.

Whether you want to ski Beech or ski Sugar, we are conveniently located at the entrance to both Sugar and Beech ski resorts. 
Alpine Ski Center located at Sugar Mtn is open year round (except between April 1 and Memorial Day). 
Alpine Ski Center located at Beech Mtn is open when Ski Beech is open, normally mid November to mid March.

We carry a great selection of ski & snowboard equipment, clothing, & accessories, with a full service Repair Shop,
and the area's  best Ski & Snowboard Rental Shop (with more than 900 sets of rental equipment).

  • Runs one of North America’s top 60 Snow sports shops (voted by readers of Ski Magazine 4 years in a row as Ski Magazines Gold Medal Ski Shops)

  • 3 years with Alpine, 17 yrs experience in the ski & snowboard industry, current position as Banner Elk's Store Manager.
  • 3 yrs on Alpine's Ski and Snowboard Test Demo Team. Skier for 13 years at Ski-LL 9, Snowboarder for over 17 years.
  • Other Sport interest include playing soccer for over 24 yrs and still kickin it! An avid wakeboarder, loves basketball, golf, football, and baseball...really every sport under the sun, especially snowsports.
  • Sports Center and Powder Days makes him happy.

 BE Rental/Repair Manager
  • 7 years as Rental Manager at one of Ski Magazines Gold Medal Ski Shops,
     
  • 7 years with the Alpine Ski and Snowboard Test Demo Team. Skier for 13 years at Ski-LL 8, Snowboarder for 1 year.
     
  • Has a working knowledge of trend-setting Ski and Snowboard technique and is responsible for the training of every technician. Brings a focus on Up-to-date waxing/tuning techniques with the experience of tuning hundreds of skis, boots, and bindings every year.
  • Other sport interests include Fly Fishing, Avid Mountain and road Cyclist, and Golf. Andy was an Eagle Scout and has a B.S. in Communication Arts from Lees McRae.
  • Blue Bird Days on the Hill & Mountain Biking make him happy.
