Tuned and
waxed skis and snowboards perform better.
They run smoother, are easier to balance and control. And
that's why Alpine includes 3 Free Annual Tune-ups with every ski or board
we sell.
If you purchased skis or a snowboard from Alpine
within the past 3 years, you're eligible for a free tune-up!
Here's how you can tell if your equipment is eligible
for the free service. Look for a small 1/2" by 2" sticker on
your ski or board. It shows three different years printed in
blocks.
If 2010 shows on one of these
blocks - you're eligible.

To take advantage of the 2010 Free
Tune-up, you must bring your equipment to Alpine before November 15,
2010. The Free Annual Tune-up includes, base grind, flat file, edge
beveling, edge sharpening and hot wax and a visual binding inspection.
This Annual Tune-up does not
include pe-tex work - filling in base scratches - charges may
vary depending on damage, but usually $10 to $15 if necessary. It also does
not include a mechanical binding test for ski bindings ($15
charge - see note below. ***)
If you've purchased skis or a board from
Alpine in the past 3 years but can't find this sticker, bring your
equipment to the store and we'll check our records to see if you
qualify.

1. >>Inspect
the base Turn your ski or board upside down. Pull your finger along
the base dragging your nail. It should feel waxy to the touch and you
should fill a slight build-up of wax under your nail. If the base feels or
looks dry or you see little 'hairs' sticking up, you're past due for a hot
wax. |

2. >>Looking
for scratches and gouges in the base material These scratches can be
caused by skiing/riding over rocks or even hard ice. These scratches create
friction and reduce glide. Most minor scratches are removed with base
grinding - more significant scratches should be filled before
grinding. |

3. >>Inspect
the edges for nicks, burrs, rust, & sharpness You can do this by running
a finger nail along the edge and you'll feel nicks - be careful, don't cut
yourself. Sharpness is a little harder to inspect - if you ski primarily in
Eastern groomed conditions with
man-made snow - edges tend to dull in just 5 or 6 days on
the slopes. Western powder and natural snow don't dull the edges as
quickly.
Smooth sharp edges that are tuned for
your ability level have a significant impact on the performance of your
equipment. Dull edges make the skis or board non-responsive and make turning
and stopping more difficult. |

Manufacture's recommend that ski bindings
are mechanically release checked once a year. Though not included in the Free
Annual Tune-up, a release check will give you additional peace of mind that
your bindings are functioning properly. If you'd like this service,
remember to bring in one of your boots. |
