Alpine Ski Center's Boot Fit Guarantee
(for both ski and snowboard boots)

Your purchase of ski or snowboard boots from Alpine also comes with a guarantee - a Boot Fit Guarantee!

Sometimes a boot feels great when you're in the shop trying it on, and after you buy it, you find when you take it to the slopes, it isn't as comfortable as you'd hoped it would be. Years of experience have taught us that a 'perfect fit' in the store is not always a perfect fit on the slopes. That's why we offer Alpine's "Boot Fit Guarantee" with every ski and snowboard boot purchased at Alpine.

So if you're having any fit issues (see the list of Common Fit Problems below), bring your boots (and socks) to the store and we'll make it right. It's our promise that we'll work with you until you are satisfied with the fit-at no charge to you for parts or labor.

For those of you with fitting problems that purchased boots from another source, we'll work on those too! There are charges for labor and materials - but often, it's not that hard to make a serious improvement to fit and comfort. Thanks for making Alpine your ski and snowboard shop.

Boot Fit Problems

Explanation

Solution

Ankle

blisters

or

bruising

Ankle blisters or bruising is commonly associated with too much pressure or miss-alignment in the ankle area or by a boot that’s too big in the ankle area.
  • Adding a hell lift to re-align the ankle

  • Stretching the liner and/or shell to accommodate a protruding ankle bone

  • Adding padding to the outside of the liner to better distribute pressure

Too

narrow

or

too wide

Boot feels too narrow or too wide in the forefront part of the boot.

  • too narrow - stretch the liner and or shell to provide more room. Often a quick liner adjustment eliminates the problem, but the shell can be heated and expanded with the right tools.

  • too wide - by adding pads to the side and/or shims under the foot, the boot's volume can be reduced to give a better fit.

This

too short-

sore toes

Either the boot is too short or your foot is sliding forward.
  • Shell length - First we will check to see if the boot shell is too short - often the liner is shorter than the shell and it's just a matter of stretching the liner length. If the shell is too short, we'll put you in the right size.

  • Foot sliding - If the problem is that your foot is sliding forward, it's a simple matter to add padding so that your foot stays seated properly in the back of the boot. This can also be caused by pronation - when the ankle rolls over to the inside, the foot is elongated - this usually requires wedges to stabalize the ankle.

Arch

Cramps
Cramps are usually caused by the foot muscles being under prolonged stress - this can be caused by pressure over the instep or pronation.
  • Reposition foot - The solution is to reposition the foot or remove padding from the area that is forcing your foot into the poor position.

Cold or

Numb feet
Cold or numb feet is usually caused by too much pressure in the cuff or instep area.
  • Pressure around calf - If caused by pressure around the calf and leg, a heel lift usually solve the problem.

  • Pressure over instep - If too much pressure over the instep, we can remove padding from the tongue over the foot to reduce the pressure and thereby improve circulation.
